CONNECTING TO NATURE IS TRANSFORMATIVE. NO WASTED DAYS.
Arc’teryx is rooted in a love for the mountains, and the power of time spent in the great outdoors. The mountains make us who we are. They are a mindset - a place where we acquire knowledge, skills, experience, and community; an opportunity to connect with ourselves, community, and nature.
The saying goes that “the outdoors are for everyone”, but we know that the outdoor industry has historically excluded many communities. As leaders in the outdoor industry, we have a choice: we can maintain the status quo, or we can Leave it Better.
In 2023, Arc’teryx launched No Wasted Days: a celebration of the myriad different paths to the mountains, and a call to action to get outside and create change. This year, the Arc’teryx Community Grant Program becomes the No Wasted Days Grant Program. We’re seeking to partner with talented community leaders and connectors who are advancing the movement toward equitable access to nature.
THE PROGRAM
From April 2 – 16, 2024, the Arc’teryx No Wasted Days Grant Program 2024 (hereinafter referred to as “the Grant Program”) will be open to local, grassroots individuals & organizations actively working to increase access for people who have traditionally been excluded from the outdoors. To support this work Arc’teryx will provide grants of up to 5,000 AUD, CAD, GBP, or USD, dependent on your location.
THE FOCUS
The Grant Program aims to share resources with individuals and organizations that center community in their work. Ideal projects are those that listen deeply to the needs of the community they intend to serve, and work in relationship with those communities to build programs that support access to nature.
As Arc’teryx continues to deepen our commitment to equity and inclusion, we seek to centre organizations that are led by the communities they intend to serve. Furthermore, we have established a goal that “by 2025, 60% of the partners we support and the funds we invest will be with organizations that self-identify as being led by folx who self-identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.” We’re excited to share that as of 2023, we reached 73% BIPOC-leadership and we will be continuing this focus for the 2024 Grant Program.
THE GRANTS
We trust your judgement on the best use of grant funds and therefore provide them without restriction. If you need them to support your operating expenses, great. If you need them to support a specific project, equally great. Our ask is simply that you share how your organization seeks to increase access to nature for the community you intend to serve.
ON CHARITABLE STATUS
The requirement of charitable status can be a barrier to many great projects receiving funding. We remove that barrier and do not require charitable status or not-for-profit status; rather we seek to understand your values and commitment to your mission. It is that which is of central importance.
ON APPLICATIONS FROM ORGANIZATIONAL CHAPTERS
To provide fair opportunity to each organization within your community, we ask that you apply for a single grant to a single Arc’teryx community, as listed in the application. If you have chapters in multiple geographic locations, each chapter can submit a single grant application to a single Arc’teryx community.
If this sounds like you or an organization you know, please spread the word or begin the application process by clicking the link below.
In gratitude for the work you’re leading.
